Pole Barn kits vs Metal
A classic pole barn kit consists of wooden poles buried in the ground. The poles are then used as columns for the roof to be attached to. Walls are also usually made of wood or tin and are nailed or screwed to the upright poles. The poles that are buried in the ground will shift and move over time as well as decay and become rotten, even if treated wood is used. This causes constant maintenance and repair. Insurance on a pole barn structure is higher than that of a metal building and sometimes can not be insured. In many areas pole barn kits are not considered a permanent structure and you may have trouble obtaining a building permit in some zoning districts. Compared to a permanent metal barn or storage building that has steel columns securely anchored to a concrete foundation, with the highest fire rating, ease of erection, and low maintenance a pole barn kit is a poor second choice for an informed buyer.
